Physical Treatments

Physical Treatments is an open-access, double-blind, peer-reviewed journal published in English since 2012. The journal publishes original research with implications for physical therapy, from basic foundations that lead to treatment enhancement to applied treatment protocols and techniques that enhance understanding of physical therapy. Other types of articles that add to the knowledge content of physical therapy and related fields, such as systematic or narrative reviews, educational, theoretical, or debate articles, brief reports, case histories, or single case studies, are also welcome. Our vision is to become one of the most reliable and accessible sources for all those engaged in the science of physical therapy, from theory to practice, to find what they need to stay up to date and share their experience in physical therapy and related fields. Physical Treatments is a peer-reviewed journal that accepts articles with sound methodologies and sufficient contribution to the literature for publication.


Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All journal papers are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License, which permits any non-commercial use, sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium or format, as long as you give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the source.


Online First Publishing Policy

Physical Treatments follows a quarterly publication schedule. To facilitate rapid dissemination of scientific findings, the journal may publish accepted articles online before assigning them to a regular journal issue, after completion of the peer review, editorial decision-making, and production processes.

Articles published as Online First have completed the journal’s standard peer-review and editorial evaluation processes and represent officially published scholarly content. These articles receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registered through Crossref and can be cited using their DOI before assignment to a specific volume and issue.

After inclusion in a regular journal issue, the article receives its final bibliographic information, including volume, issue, and page/article number. The DOI remains unchanged and continues to serve as the permanent identifier of the published article.

Throughout the journal’s publication history, different DOI structures have been used according to the journal’s publication workflow. Earlier articles were assigned DOIs based on volume and issue information, whereas articles published through the Online First workflow receive DOIs based on the publication year and article identifier. Both DOI structures are valid, permanent identifiers registered with Crossref.
